saving changes in templates

I'm using the contacts management template and have worked out how to add
categories, etc..However, it doesn't let me save any of these changes when I
exit. I've checked the permissions and trusted site stuff. But no luck so
far. Any idea what's wrong?

Did you check the file properties of the mdb file to see if it is read only?
