Saving as MHT

Hello,
I wonder if there is a way to set the default for saving web pages as *.mht
instead of *.html?
TIA

Hi Alphonse :)

Try the following free utility and see if it helps:

Cannot Save Web Page as a Web Archive File
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q198061

also.........

IEToolkit allows you to capture a full size screenshot of an entire web page
in image format; save the complete page to .MHT format or to save any
element, including Flash, picture and more, by simply dragging a target over
it. IEToolkit can also generate a resource list of page objects that allows
you to preview and save selected items.a built-in popup killer lets you
eliminate annoying ads.

If these steps do not resolve your problem, please post back to this thread
with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

Hi Jan,
Though I am not having trouble saving web pages as mht's, but simply wanting
to change it to be the default format when I do File, Save As..., I did
download the utility that you suggested for it sounds interesting. For my
purpose it would require more work than changing from html to mht, but there
are some pages that do not save as mht's so it will come in handy. Thanks.
Also, your MS link explained why those pages wont save, something that I had
learned to take with a grain of salt, and now you gave me a solution for
such cases.

Now, back to my original whim, if you happen to come across the registry key
or utility that would change the default format I will be

Cheers

Hi Alphonse :)

Well...ya got me on that one! ;-) if I do come across it, I'll post it
for the group. There may be others who might like to know too. Sorry I
wasn't able to be of more help this time around. Hopefully, someone else
here will have the answer for you. <g>

Hi Jan
You need not be sorry... you taught me something and gave me a solution to
something else, on top of reminding me and the rest of us to SMILE which
does us all good. Besides, this is more of a whim, since it really doesn't
kill me to click twice more to accomplish it. I'll keep monitoring this
thread for a few, just in case... Thank you once again, and it has been nice
"talking to you".
Cheers.
