Cannot Save As MHT

Lance Weaver

I can no longer save web pages in .mht format using IE 6
under Windows XP Pro. I had no problem until today. Even
files I saved yesterday with the .mht extension, when I
pull them up today, .mht is not available as a Save As
option. The Save as type list only has .htm, .html,
and .txt. I've read other people are having this problem,
but I haven't heard of a solution.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, Lance; I have the opposite problem: I was using the save with
the htm, html option and *it* stopped working for no reason.
I've been waiting for a week or more for some help on it but so
far... nada. I hope you have better luck getting an answer here.
But as a last resort, you can always wipe out your installation of
IE6 and re-install a clean version. It drastic and a bit time
consuming, but it usually cures all.

Hi Henri,

Thanks for the tip. I deleted the TIF Cache folder and
created a new one and specified double the space and it
didn't seem to make a difference.

Please let me know if you come up with anything else.
Thanks a lot for the help. i appreciate it.

Hi Henri,

That link doesn't seem to be working. I get a DNS error
trying to access www.mvps.org. It does look like that
might have something to do with the problem. But I
checked my registry and I don't have an entry for
NoBrowserSaveWebComplete. I'll keep trying.

Thanks again!

I visited the site yesterday just before I replied.

Something else is wrong if you are not able to get to it.

The site is not protected.

You have some other problems.

It may be a HOSTS file problem.
Look also for a file named HOSTS (no extension, could be hidden) rename it
OLDHOSTS.

If you did not create the file, then you may have parasites, or you are
using a web accelerator program that would be causing this problem.

This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware, parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
