Saving 1hour and 45 minute video

I am editing my wedding video on MM2 and it is 1 hour 45 minutes in length.

Ultimately, I want to distribute the wedding video on a DVD but with the
best possible quality. I also want to store the wedding video on the best
format, i.e. mini dv, short play.

What is the best way to achieve this?

I assume I will need to split the video into 2 separate files and end up
with the video on 2 mini DV tapes. This is ok.

However, my question is this. Can I then make a DVD from the 2 mini DV tapes
using NERO? And will this result in better quality video than saving to
Windows Media Audio/Video file from MM2 then buring to DVD?
