Big difference between DV-AVI and High Quality Video(NTSC)?

I am importing my home videos from my camcorder's mini-dv tapes using windows
movie maker 2. Is there a big difference between the DV-AVI and High Quality
Video(NTSC) formats? I read an article that said there is not much noticible
quality difference, and the High Quality Video(NTSC) format is one-eighth the
size. I will then be using NeroVision Express SE (OEM version of Nero with
the DVD Plug-In which I purchased) to create and burn the DVD file.

To answer my own question (and maybe help someone else looking for the same
answer)......I burned two coasters out of two DVD+R discs to give it a try
myself using just a few minutes of video imported and saved as a DV-AVI
format and as a High Quality Video(NTSC) format. I burned both to dvd's, and
didn't notice any difference in quality when I watched them on my tv. As a
side note, NeroVision did not play my DV-AVI video back well as a preview
before I burned it to disc.....the video was slow and all choppy as I
previewed my final movie.....however, I did the burn anyway to see if it
would still come out ok, and it did. The preview played fine of the verison
in High Quality Video(NTSC) format.

FYI I have run the same test myself more than once and the result is
different depending on the content.
You are correct the difference is not noticeable with a simple movie but if
you have a project with fast paced scenes or especially with a lot of quick
transitions you will certainly see a difference.
