save word document as a pdf file

I use word 2002 in Microsoft Office XP. Previously Word showed an icon that
allowed me to save a word document as a pdf (acrobat) file. Now the icon is
not showing in Word and I don't know how to get it to reappear.

Help?

If it is set up like mine, you can "print" the word document and Adobe PDF
will be one of the printers you can select in the print dialogue box. Just
select that as your printer and that will create a pdf file from your Word
file.

I do have the icons available in Word and Excel, etc. that you are talking
about. I looked further to try to figure out what settings in Adobe Acrobat
caused them to appear in Microsoft products. I could not figure that out. I
seem to remember that they installed when I installed the Acrobat software.
If no one else can give you a solution, you may have to look in the Adobe
site.

The toolbar is generated by the Acrobat add-in. In Acrobat 6 and earlier,
this is a .dot file in the Word and/or Office Startup folder. In Acrobat 7,
it is a COM add-in.

When I go to print there is no option of priting to fil etc. I have started a
new job and taken over this computer. How and where do I get the add-ins
which will permit me to save Word as a pdf?

You must have some version of Adobe Acrobat (not just the Reader) installed.

You must have some version of Adobe Acrobat (not just the Reader) installed.

If it's only to create PDF files from MS Office or other applications
via a pseudo-printer in the fashion of Acrobat Distiller: there are many
cheaper and some free alternatives; e.g. PDFCreator.
