Save to desktop control

Hi! I have user's that save documents to the desktop. I need to either stop or limit this as these documents will not be backed up. Any idea as to how I go about this? Thanks
 
Make the folder "read-only" via its NTFS permissions.

My users were also doing this. I made a shortcut on their
desktop to the network folder, and it has worked well for
me.
