"save picture as" isnt working

hi guys,
i have a new pc and life is good except i cant seem to
save funky pics i come across on the web. here are my
specs:
xp
acdsee 5.0
quicktime 5
aol 7.0
i have the option to save images as art or bitmap. when i
go to my pictures the file is saved as a jpeg but it is
empty, blank, nada.
can someone save me??
