Planning for a future OS reinstall.
In the past, I have downloaded all required hot fixes and manually installed them one by one prior to running windows update.
1) I realize that I could slipstream the patches, but prefer not to
What I would like to do is run windows update - have it discover that the hot fix already resides on my hard disk, install all applicable patches - and then download any that I may be missing, rebooting as required.
Wondering if I could copy all of the hotfixes I have accumulated and store them in Windows\Softwaredistrubution\download (or some other location) so that windows update would realize that they exist.
Is this feasible?
Do the patch files need to be in individual directories (or can I group together)?
Wondering if anyone has tried this and can offer some comments and suggestions.
