downloading updates

I have to install 12 new (dell) pcs that were loaded with windows xp. There
seems to be about 45 patches/updates to the OS.

The customer has a slow internet connection - is there a way to download
the patches to a shared folder once - and install the patches from there.

Download, on a fast connection, burn updates to cd/dvd then do as you wish
with them

where would the updates be downloaded to and how do I install them once I
have them downloaded and copied to a cd
