save location for custom actions outlook 2007

Hi

I am using outlook 2007 and have the markread custom actions custom actions
file from slipstick.com which is commonly mentioned in these feeds.

I follow the instructions by creating a folder C:\EXCHANGE and run the setup
which transfers the .dll to that folder but it does not show up in the custom
actions drop down after rebooting.

I get this impression this action is quite old and was wondering if it needs
to be saved to a different location for 2007?

any advice?

Regards

I'm not sure if it works with Outlook 2007 and I'm not sure why you need it
since rules can mark read (near the bottom of Actions). But anyway... that
folder is needed to match the bat/reg file paths when it installs it. Did
you either run the bat file or move the dll to the exchange folder and run
the reg file?

the reason i need it is because the rule is being run on sent messages to
move them to the relevant mailboxes sent items folder, but because for some
utterly stupid reason outlook wont allow you to autmatically move sent mail
so i have set my options so that it does not save the sent message in the
default mailbox sent items folder.

I then have a rule that runs so that when a message is sent, the rule moves
a copy of that message to the relevent mailboxes sent items folder. which
works fine except it marks it as an unread item. So i need the custom action
to solve this last little problem.

just to clarify when i use the term mailbox i of course mean data file.

Ah... that makes a difference.

I didn't test anything more than the installation - but if you create the
folder and either run the batch file or copy the dll to it and run the reg
file, MarkRead is available as a custom action.

Are you sending as a delegate for these Exchange mailboxes? Then you can
already configure Outlook to move the Sent Items to their corresponding
folder without the need of a rule. You do need to modify the registry
though.
