Save Desktop Icons Layout?

Hi, often when I remote desktop to my machine, the computer I'm working from
usually has a lower screen resolution. When I go back to my computer later
on in the desktop icons have all been rearranged. I know there is software
that can save and restore desktop icons layout, but I want to do this
manually. Is there a desktop file I can copy and save or is this all stored
in the registry?

You could try something like:
http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,25934,00.asp Icon
Restorer

PC Magazine also has a program WinTidy, but you have to be a paid subscriber
of their Premium dowload content. ($9.95 a year, IIRC)

there are other MINOR variations on this site that also use the LAYOUT.DLL
file from the resource kit. if interested, google for "layout.dll"

this works well, but only remembers a single layout for a single screen
resolution, which should suffice for the average user, and your stated
problem.
