Save Attachment option

Outlook 2000 SR-1 on XPSP2

I selected the "always" option when viewing an attachment to always open the
file in a viewer rather than the Save to Disk option. Now I've decided I
like the dialog box to come up and ask what I want to do with the
attachment. I have looked through every preference and option dialog I
could find but do not see anywhere to get this feature back. It must be a
registry thing....? How can I get the Save Attachment/View Attachment
option dialog back?

Thank you,
Ken Frederick

Windows' file settings control the behavior of attachments that you open.

In Windows Explorer, choose Tools | Folder Options | File Types. Select the
extension for the file type, then click Advanced. You should see a checkbox
for "Confirm open after download."

I don't think this feature is file type dependent. I did scan down through
the list of file types though, the only thing I saw I thought might do the
trick was the "MSG" file type for Outlook Messages. I removed the "Open"
command. It did not fix this. Let me explain another way; If I view an
email in Outlook in the Preview Pane and then click the Paperclip in the
upper right corner of the pane, then click one of the files, I used to get a
dialog box asking whether to Open or Save to disk. It did not matter what
type of file it was, bmp, jpg, doc, pdf, etc........ Now when I click the
file name is goes directly to its associated application. Maybe I need
further instructions.... Am I going to have to go through each and every
file type in Explorer and make a modification? Thank you.
