I was having trouble opening attachments w/OL 2002 so I deleted profile and
receated it. When I double-clicked an attachment the usual Open, Save box
appeared. Then, like a dufus, I clicked the Do not show this box again and
now when I double-click to open an attachment nothing happens. I thought
checking the OPEN option and slecting the Do Not Display This WIndow Again
would automagically just go ahead and open the Word doc but musta
misinterpreted the option.

Does anyone know how to get this window to reappear so I can select Open or
Save the attachment? Any help will be greatly apprecaited.

You don't state your version of Windows, so this assumes XP. Open Control
Panel and run the Folder Options applet. Select the File Type tab. Locate
the file type of the attachment for which you clicked the "Do not show"
option. Select that file type, then click Advanced. Below the Actions pane
you should see a box labeled "Confirm open after download". That's the box
you need to check to get the prompt back.

Thanks Brian, the fixed the window appearing; however, when I check the OPEN
file option and OK nothing happens. Yet when I click the Save As option I get
the Save As window. It will not let me open Doc or Txt documents and probably
others as well. Do you have a clue as to what to do to get the docs to open.

And, you were correct, it is XP Pro.

Thanks again.

Are you using the Reading Pane or an open message?

Yes, I'm double-clicking the .doc / .txt icon that appears in the preview
pane below the inbox msg listing.

Yes, I'm double-clicking the .doc / .txt icon that appears in the preview
pane below the inbox msg listing.

Could be related to the fact that attachments opened from the Reading Pane are
read-only. Open the message and then try to open the attachment, soes it work
now?
