Hi!

I have a user that has a random error: every once in a while, he makes
a SaveAs of a page. The little drawing appears but the % completed, but
nothing happens, it's frozen. He has to kill the application.

I have never experienced something like this. I noticed though that we
have different versions of IE, mine is 6.0.2800.1106 only and his is
6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633 with updates SP1; Q324929; Q810847;
Q818529; Q813951; Q330994.

It appears, as reading through, that update Q324929 may be causing
problems? I do not have this update.

Does it have anything to do with my problem? Is it fixable? How?

Thank you in advance

Try clearing the TIF? (e.g. similar advice for people with printing problems)

Hi!

No.. I mean the Windows window-image of the two folders and the little
paper going back and from to "show" that it's copying with the %
completed... And it always shows 0% completed.

I can't really control that. I'm using Discoverer Viewer (an Oracle
product) and the page viewer gives me, I want to make a SaveAs of. It's
actually only an HTML table, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Another good idea? I thought, since I read a lot about the bad xpsp2
package that there was a slight possibility it was that...

Thanks!

Did you try it?

Is there a way? How? I'm only using Discoverer through IE. I can't
control or put code on Discoverer.

(stupid question, but I never did web programming)

Via the Control Panel's Internet Options applet.

Alternatively, Run... (e.g. press Win-R and enter:)

control inetcpl.cpl

In order to avoid any possible interference from other web apps
it would be a good idea to make sure that they are all closed first.
This includes Outlook Express. Sometimes those apps can still
be running even though there is no window and no Taskbar icon.
You can check for that case using Task Manager (e.g. press Ctrl-Shift-Esc),
switch to its Processes tab and make sure that iexplore.exe and
msimn.exe is not being run (for example.)

Good luck

Ok, I'll try that. We'll see if it works.

But if this fixes the problem, it will have to be done on every user's
PC...

Thanks

It definitely doesn't fix the problem.

Do you have another idea?

You may have been on the right track thinking about maintenance.
What version of mshtml.dll do you each have?

<title>KB831306 - FIX: The FileDownload event does not always fire</title>

(MSN search for
kbie600presp2fix download
)

and why haven't you kept up with your maintenance?

BTW if you do decide to get current via security patches notice
that that will not necessarily give you the hotfixes you may need.
For those you may need the latest rollup update, e.g. 873377
(e.g. notice that it refers to 871260 which in turn refers to 831306.)
Once you have some hotfixed modules subsequent security updates
supposedly give you integrated hotfixes and security patches.

<title>KB873377 - An update rollup is available for Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1</title>

Good luck
