"Save As" Default

Whenever I want to save a file, the default show in the Save
As window is "My Documents". Can I change that, easily?

(I'm using W2000/Pro)

Thanks.

Yes, by changing the location of "My Documents" on the
desktop.

Well, perhaps I didn't make myself clear earlier. I know
how to move the "My Documents" folder around on the
desktop - in fact I have removed it. The situation I'm
talking about, however, is when I have a document open in a
screen, and under "File" seek to "Save" or "Save As" the
document. When I do that another, smaller screen opens,
entitled "Save As". Within that screen is a place to select
the location in which the document will be saved. The
default location is "My Documents" and since I don't want to
place the document there I have to use the feature that
allows one to select a different location. What I'd like to
do is change the default location that comes up
automatically.

Thanks.

I shall explain it differently:

- Right-click "My Documents"
- Click "Properties"
- Change the folder in the "Target Field"
- Say "No" when asked if you wish to move files

From now on, Windows will save your files in this new location by default.

Pegasus, I'm sorry to be such a pest. I followed your
instructions, inserting the new location I want to use
(D:/A-Switch) but when I now use the Save feature it still
comes up as "My Documents". Is it necessary to reboot the
computer in order for such a change to take place? Thanks.

This behaviour is expected. However, "My Documents" will
now point at the new location you specified.
