satellite notebook wont shut down

I have a toshiba notebook with XP home and was earlier using it on battery
mode w/satellite running and I picked the thing up to get it off my lap & now
it is literally stuck "on". I can't find one bit of info in the borderline
useless handbooks that came with it, so I'm hoping someone might be able to
help out. I've tried the on/off button, control/alt/del, jabbed a few f#'s
but it's just stuck. Thanks :o)
 
Well, the kind folks @ toshiba were amazingly helpful. I only needed to press
the power button for 5 seconds longer than the one I had been. Lets hope
that's the biggest problem my day holds!
 
Pull the battery, unplug, and restart with the battery back in.
