I tried installing from the web site and it won't
install. Keeps telling me to try again. So, I
downloaded the update and it gives me the following error
message:
update\update.exe is not a valid Win32 application.

MS has really done it this time. This sux!

The only time that I had trouble downloading an update I
deleted the catrrot2 folder and then I had no problems.
Open folder options and unhide hidden files and folder's.
Right click on start, select "Explore" scroll down to
thw "windows" folder and open it,then scroll down to
the "system32" folder and open it, next find catroot2 and
delete it,don't panic it will go into the recycle bin.
NOTE:delete the catroot2 folder NOT the catroot one.
Next reboot, then go to windows update and try again,The
catroot2 folder is a catalog folder and sometimes it
becomes corrupted, since this is a reqiured folder by
windows it will be recreated with a new one when windows
requires it.
In the mean time the firewall that comes with XP will
stop the sasser worm from getting on your system. If you
do not have it enabled or don't use a third party's
firewall then turn the xp one on now.

There are two common reasons for that error:
1. Bad download...download again
2. Attempting to install a 64 bit application on a 32 bit
computer...download the 32 bit version.
