Same Windows 2000 Domain Controller in the same network

I saw today Same Windows 2000 Domain Controller in the same network having
different roles: one with Exchange role and another one is with AD role; but
both are DC's

Can anyone suggest how to go about and remove one with a safe procedure?

In this network there is only one AD available? Site is connected to
SMTP/pop3 server outside the network for messaging.

Sorry I didn't mention that there are two Windows 2000 Domain Controller in
the same name in the same network.
