Hi All
Question here. I installed a internal card reader with USB hookup right to
motherboard header.
The little safley Remove Icon stays in my task bar all the time.
Does this hurt anything. Is it bad for the card reader, i don't think the
reader is actually on till you insert a mem card. It is a AtechFlash
Technology PRO 9 model.
Or is my wireing wrong?
Thanks

It is there so you can tell the computer when you are intending to pull the
memory cards out of the reader.

It's normal.

Things are more complicated than that. With my external multicard
reader, I can insert and remove (eg Compact Flash) cards quite happily
without bothering with safe removal (the external disc shown in 'my
computer' comes and goes at the correct 'logical' times). However - I
MUST use safe removal before I unplug the card reader from the USB hub
- otherwise I cannot reconnect it without rebooting XP.

Similar constraints apply when using direct USB connection with my
digital camera.
