Safely remove hardware icon and Ethernet Controller?

It can be hidden, but not removed. Right-click an open area of the
taskbar, choose PROPERTIES|CUSTOMIZE.

Also, computer has identified hardware to be installed
(ethernet controller), but can not find driver - I can not
find the ethernet controller "name" to go and look for a
driver. I let it report itself to Microsoft but still no
answers. Any suggestions? I choose not to let it
reappear until I have some answers.

Safely remove hardware is to allow you to ensure that transfers of data
are safely tidied up before removing devices that can physically be
unplugged 'on the fly' - particularly USB ones. You cannot remove it,
but should be able to hide it if you r-click in the taskbar (and ensure
it is not locked) then in Properties - Hide icons checked, click
Customise, and next to the Safely remove select 'Always hide' in the
drop down
