Safe Mode

I just recently needed to try and use Safe Mode
operation. When I tried using the F8 key, it came up and
asked me what to boot from, floppy, hard drive or cd. No
options for safe mode etc. What went wrong? Did I
load/setup something wrong when I installed XP.

Try tapping the f8 key every couple seconds during the initial boot.
or..............
Once all up to speed, hit start,run and enter MSCONFIG. Look at the tabs.
You will find a startup, check the safe boot, close out and restart. Just
remember to uncheck it when you are done with whatever.

I was under the impression that MSCONFIG did not come with XP by default.. am I mistaken?
I thought it needed to be downloaded.
