What key do I press and hold to get into safe mode?
Jeff

F8 is the key to get into the OS Safe Mode.

Other keys, may be intercepted by your BIOS. F11 or perhaps F8,
could be used to trigger the BIOS popup menu. After you've selected
a boot disk for the boot up process, that won't bother you again.
An instant after satisfying that input, you could go back to
pressing F8 for Safe Mode.

BIOS also use keys like <Del> or F2, to actually enter the BIOS. This
is different than what happened in the previous paragraph, as entering
the BIOS allows making permanent changes. The previous method, the popup
menu, is a temporary selection.

So, F8 would get you into Safe Mode - barring any interference from
other, BIOS functions.

And sometimes, the timing is tricky, when it comes to these "magic key
presses". If at first you don't succeed, try again.
