Safe Mode Problems

I am trying to start my computer (Windows XP) in "Safe
Mode" in order to install a new driver. My instructions
are to press F8 2 times/sec after I restart to get the
Windows Start Up Menu. I don't see any such window, it
just continues loading to my desktop. What am I doing
wrong? Thanks!

Boot the system start tapping F8, keep tapping, it should bring you to a
menu with an option for Safe Mode. Don't stop after two taps.

Do it just as the BIOS information turns to a black screen. But the
time-s;lot can be difficult to hit: if you do not make it, do a Start -
Run and run MSConfig

On its BOOT.INI page, check /SAFEMODE and exit to reboot to Safe mode -
you will have to run it again, and uncheck, before returning to normal.
I would do that before doing the install, but this time on OK, take
Exit, not reboot

Huh? Delete will get you into BIOS setup on some machines but never into
the boot menu to select Safe Mode.

Start tapping F8 as soon as the keyboard lights flash right after
powerup and keep tapping it it until the boot menu appears.

If you are using a MS or Logitech keyboard with the F Lock button,
make certain the light is on for the F-Lock feature.
