Safe mode problem

I have installed SP2. Have download.trojan I can't get rid of. Purchased
spyware remover and installed under my user account. When I try to go to
safe mode to do scan, my user does not show up although I have administrator
rights (checked and re-checked). The user account that does show up does not
realize I have that software installed. I can scan the computer but it wants
me to register, which I have already done. I must have written down the
registration number wrong because it doesn't work under that user in Safe
mode. Norton tells me what the files are that are infected but when I try to
delet them either in dos or in safe mode it tells me 'access denied'. Help.

Hi Margie,

I would recommend that you use the BartPE disk to delete the files. I
run into the same problem on a much more regular basis then I would
like (I am a programmer and create files that don't close because the
program I am running crashes). You could also use a Linux Knoppix disk
to do the same thing.

Thanks for the reply. I am not familiar with BartPE but I googled and think
I can figure that out. Can you help me get my user account to show up in
safe mode should this type of problem happen again?
