Safe mode--black screen

I am trying to start my other computer in safe mode. All goes well, but the
screen (desktop?) is black. The safe mode lettering appears and when I
ctrl-alt-del the task manager appears, but everything else is black....what
give?

How long did you wait? In Safe Mode it can take several minutes for the
desktop to come up fully.

I waited quite some time...not sure exactly how long...I will try again and
wait longer. Thanks

Same with me. I start my computer in SafeMode but all I get is a
black screen with SafeMode in the corners. It also says something like
Windows XP with some numbers at the top. I, too, can press
Ctrl-Alt-Del and get the task manager. I waited and waited, and it was
still black. I even went and took a shower and came back and the
screen was still black. Any help??
