S video cable installation

Apparently there's more to it than simple hooking the cable to the back of
the hard drive and to the back of the TV. What else must I do? Thanks for
any help anyone could give.
 
Your video card must support "TV Out". A television set is not a computer
monitor and, among other things, screen resolution is totally different.
Your television needs a signal input that meets the NTSC or PAL formats.
NTSC in the United States and PAL in Europe and elsewhere.
 
There is no s-video connection on a hd,the video card has one on back
of computer.Youll need to set-up the tv in youre display menu in
control-panel.
 
Im having trouble connecting my laptop to the television to watch dvds. any
suggestions on what i need to do. I had it working years ago but cant
