Runtime Error

I'm using Windows XP Home edition; in my email program, IncrediMail, I get
the runtime error msg. when opening attachments. The rest of the box says:
"Program C:\\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Winword.EXE" and then
"abnormal program termination" - how can I get my attachments to open?
This is my first encounter with this runtime error msg. Thanks for any help.

Either Word or some anti spyware does not allow scripts (macros) to run. Try
to lower Word macro Security (Word/Tools/Options/Security/Macros) - which is
not very wise when it comes to email attacments. Otherwise, open the
attachments with Notepad - just rename them to "whatever.txt." Also, chek in
the attached file properties and it will say that it comes from anothe
computer and thus is not safe to open it - allow it to be open, if you so
desire. Don't forget to scan the attacments for viruses blah blah.

Thanks so much; I lowered the Security level from High to Medium and the
attachment opened, which was sent from a trusted family member. I appreciate
your expertise!

Eh,
that's exactly how a 'good' worm works: it reads the adress book email
addresses of the infected machine and then emails itself to those email
addresses - while the trusted sender has no idea what's going on. Have your
email scanned by your AV program - there are free ones on the web for
download.
