Runtime Error When I start IE6

T

TT

I get an error "runtime error
C:\programfiles\iexplorer\iexplorer.exe
Abnormal program termination"

I have uninstalled the program and downloaded the newest
version, reinstalled it and I get the same error. It was
working fine and all of a sudden it quit. Any ideas?

This is probably a spyware / parasite problem.

From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced> uncheck "Enable third party
browser extensions."

That should allow IE to work.

Download, install, *update* and run both of these programs:
Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Spybot from http://security.kolla.de/ (Remove items listed in red-others are
optional.)
Both programs should be updated after installation- before use.

Common Name http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/CommonName.html causes an error
of this type. Ad-aware and Spybot will remove CN and many other malware
programs.

Another possibility:
From Internet Options> Advanced, if you have both Sun Java and Microsoft VM
(virtual machine) uncheck Sun Java.

Hope this helps,
Don

Runtime Error Program
C:\Windows\Explorer.exe or Iexplore.exe, abnormal program termination.

also make sure you don't have both the Sun JRE and the Microsoft VM JIT
compiler enabled.
