Runtime Error Messages

Dear kind folks:

I can't get into many of my folders, receiving a runtime error message with
the window being closed by my PC each time I try to access them. I have
Windows XP if that makes a difference. Just now I was trying to open the
Fonts folder in order to delete some of the fonts there that I don't use and
each time I tried to open it I received the following error message prior to
the system forcing the window to close each time I tried to open the folder:

"Runtime Error!" on the first line, then, on the second line the message is
"Program; C\WINDOWS\explorer.exe." On the third line it reads, "abnormal
program termination." At the very top of the message pop-up box is the
following: "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error."

If anyone knows what this means and how to fix it, please send an e-mail to
(e-mail address removed) to let me know when the remedy is placed here in this
forum or where I may find it if it already is available somewhere. Or please
e-mail the instructions directly to me, please! Thanks in advance.
