Running msdos program from a network drive

R

Ronald Covell

When I create a shortcut to an msdos program from a
network drive, and I click on it, a window opens briefly
and the program doesn't execute. WIndows 95 works
perfectly as well as Windows 98 on the same network, using
the same technique in creating the shortcut. WIndows 2000
and XP don't respond to the shortcut.

Go to Start/Run/cmd.exe[ENTER] and try to run it from the command line.
That way you'll get to see what the errors are before the window closes.
Also you can tell Win XP to run the DOS program in the Win95 or Win98
Compatibility Mode. Right click on the .EXE, select Compatibility and
choose the options you want.
