Running defrag generates mmc.exe error

When I try to run defrag, I get "mmc.exe has generated errors and will be
closed by windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is
being created."

I tried to rename MMC.EXE and I get the same error. Short of reloading
everything, what else can I try? Thank you.

Try the following:

1. Go to the C:\Winnt\inf folder.

2. Right-click the DFRG.INF file and choose Install.

3. Click Start-> Run, type "regsvr32 dfrgsnap.dll" (without the quotation
marks) in
the Open box and press Enter. Please note there is a space letter between
regsvr32
and dfrgsnap.dll.

4. Click Start-> Run, type "regsvr32 dfrgui.dll" (without the quotation
marks) in
the Open box and press Enter. Please note there is a space letter between
regsvr32
and dfrgui.dll.

5. Try again.
