running a slideshow with dual monitors

I am having trouble running a Powerpoint slideshow with dual monitors. I
have the slideshow running on the second monitor, but as soon as I open
another application on the primary monitor, the slideshow freezes up. How
can I run a slideshow on the second monitor, and work on the primary monitor
at the same time?

This is PowerPoint by-design. To workaround it, look at PowerShow add-in
from http://officeone.mvps.org/powershow/powershow.html. Among other things,
it allows you to run PowerPoint slide shows on monitors while working on
something else on a different monitor.
