Presentation stops running on Multi-Monitors

I have a PC running XP, with PowerPoint 2000 and multi-monitors setup. When
I start a slide show it goes to the secondary monitor, like I want, however
if I maximize a different program for my primary monitor the slideshow stops
advancing slides. Is there anyway to have the slideshow continue running on
my second monitor, while I work on something else on my primary monitor?

This is PowerPoint by-design. To workaround it, look at PowerShow add-in
from http://officeone.mvps.org/powershow/powershow.html. Among other things,
it allows you to run PowerPoint slide shows on monitors while working on
something else on a different monitor.
