Hello All,

When I boot XP SP1 on my computer, I get an error stating that rundll32
cannot be found. I tried booting from Norton System CD to scan for a virus,
but nothing was found. I tried going to a system restore point (in safe
mode), but I get the same message. On that note, safe mode works fine and I
can get around my system just fine. I have info on this thing that I do not
want to lose. What should I try next?

I do not know if this is related, but when I flip the psu switch on the back
of the tower to on, the computer starts to boot. It has never done this
before. I was always had to push the power button at the front of the system.
Any relation?

Many Thanks

You probably have an orphaned startup up entry which is causing the Rundll32
error message..

Download Autoruns from Sysinternal to your Desktop.

http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Autoruns.html

Extract the Autoruns Zip file contents to a folder. Double-click
"Autoruns.exe". Click on the "Everything" tab. Remove any entries that
mention "File Not Found" by right-clicking the entry to select Delete.

Restart the Computer and see if the Rundll32 message is gone.
