runas does not work

Every time I try to execute a task using the runas
command, the shell stops unexpectedly and the task will
not run. Secondary logon service is running. I have sp1
and most of the hotfixes installed. Does anyone know how
to fix this?

Yes. That article is useful - IF RUNAS WORKED WITHOUT
CRASHING THE SHELL! The command used to work fine, i.e.,
I could log on with restricted account and then use runas
to do any administrative tasks. The error message in
eventviewer is "The shell stopped unexpectedly". So
explorer.exe stops and is restarted by the system. I
have scanned for virus and spyware - none found.
Replaced runas.exe and rundll32.dll from systems where
runas runs as expected. Even replaced explorer.exe, all
to no avail.

If anyone has any ideas, I sure would appreciate some
help. Idon't want to have to reimage...
