If any one could help how do I run chkdsk on drive c: I try it from the
prompt but it won't allow me to run it.
Thanks for any help.

You need to run chkdsk from an elevated command prompt.

Start > type in "command", right click on "command prompt" and click "Run as
Administrator".

Also be aware that chkdsk will not be able to fix problems it finds on "C:"
without rebooting and running before the GUI loads. If you run it with the
"/F" switch it will say it can't lock the disk and ask if you want it to run
during the next startup.
