"Run as administrator" icon overlay won't go away

I have a program which I had set up run in administrator mode due to
compatibility issues, and so it has the little shield on its icon.
Eventually, I managed to make it work in non-administrator mode (the virtual
registry settings had got mucked up), but the little shield is stuck on the
icon and won't come off.

How do I get rid of it?

Thanks

you can just reinstall the software without installing using the run as
administrator but I think its easier to just to leave it there.

This had happened to me when I set NERO 8 to always run as Administrator,
give this a try, right click the applications executable, click Properties >
select the 'Compatibility' tab > under Priviledge Level > uncheck 'Run this
program as an administrator. The Security shield will then be removed.

I did that. And it hasn't removed the little shield. I even went as far as
doing it for all users.

The only other suggestion then is to try turning off UAC which is not
recommended. Its possible this is just how the application is designed since
it does not meet all the security critierias of Windows Vista.

It's a game that was designed for XP. All I want is for the little shield to
go away because it is no longer set up to run in administrator mode.
