Rules Do Not Keep

I am trying to have emails sent to and recieved from a specific address
diverted to a specific folder. I have created the rule several times and the
rules are shown in the rules window. However, outlook does not perform the
rule. Instead, the message stays in the inbox or sent folder. Any idea how
to correct this annoyance?

Thank you,
SC

Give the exact definition of the rule and an example of a message you think
should trigger the rule, altering any real mail addresses, of course. State
also your version of Outlook and the type of account you're using (SMTP,
Exchange, etc.).

Brian,
I have attemped to set the rule up two ways. I have right clicked on an
existing email and select "Create Rule". From there I click the top box
"From ABC...". Under "Do the following" I click "Move e-mail to folder:
ABC..." (I have a custom folder set up for this accout). I do not have to go
out and click the "Select Folder" botton, it is already there; just the box
isn't checked. I click ok. It asks if I want to run the rule now and it
does. I have also set it up the same way using "Tool">Rules and Alerts. My
expectation is that all new emails should go directly to folder ABC. I have
also set a rule for sent emails as well so that emails I send to ABC goes to
the ABC folder rather than the sent folder.

I have Outlook 2003 SP2. Account is SMTP.

Thank you for your help.

Again, please post the EXACT definition of the rule you believe doesn't work
and an example of a message that you believe should trigger that rule but
doesn't.

What are you confused about? Create rule to send all incoming and outgoing
mail from a specific email address to a specific folder. Problem: Outlook
does not perform the function.

I'm not confused. Your hand-waving doesn't give the contents of the rule so
there's no way to judge why it doesn't work as you believe it should.

Oh well...thanks anyway. Put it in the typical Microsoft "sometimes it
works, sometimes it doesn't" catagory.

Look for an article called "rules only work when manually initiated" - this
may have something to do with your problem. At this time, I still do not
know of a solution, but since a MVP is looking at it, there may be a
resolution.
