ruler formatting

I have always added /changed tabs and indents on the
ruler. With 2003, when I do this it will always be .1
or .2 off good format.

As an example, want to indent .5; using ruler can get
only .49 or .51; have to physically go into paragraph
dialogue box to get .5; same applies for setting/changing
tabs (odd, but appears that with a .5 left margin, can use
ruler with tabs after 2.5 with no problem ;), indents, etc.

I know it's only a double click to open dialogue to set
even tabs/indents, and not being satisified to be
within .1 or .2 may seem anal, but...

I've checked all default settings, etc. but continue to
have this problem. Checked throughout MS and the groups
to no avail. Anything anyone knows as to why I'm
experiencing this and if there's a cure would be so
appreciated.

Denese,

Could be "snap objects to grid" is set.
View>Toolbars>Drawing. Click the Draw menu and then grid
to view/change the setting.

You can usually get precise control of postioning the TABs
if you hold down the ALT key while placing with the mouse.

Greg, thanks for the suggestion; snap wasn't the problem
but the ALT is a great workaround! Still curious why I
can't just click and get a "good" measurement like I could
the day before upgrade ;)

Thanks again!

This has been a known problem in some previous versions, especially in some
international editions.
