BlankAfter a clean installation of my XP node on a LAN, I observe in the Task Manager that Rscmpt.exe is using about 97-99% of the CPU resources. This has slowed down my computer. What is this programme and how do I prevent it from using the resources?

Thanking you in advance.

BlankIt has something to do with your video card drivers. Try updating the
drivers for it.

Thanks for the links. I tried to roll back the drivers for the NVIDIA
display card without reduction in the CPU usage and thereafter re-installed
the driver updates from the Windows Update site. It seems there is no
alternative but to change the display card to reduce the CPU usage.

Any other suggestions?

Hi!Dr.Rajiv!
In the following link I am finding that a guy deleted Rscmpt.exe and
still not facing any sort of trouble.Have a look:-

He has done on a 2K Patform so there will be not much problem as far as
XP is concerned.

Thanks for your response. I have stopped the process and system seems to be
working better. Let me give it a try for a day or two before I delete it
from the registry.
