RRAS demand dial disconnects every 53 seconds

I am connecting 2 machines via PPTP to both W2k servers with RRAS and ISA
server installed on each. All patches are installed and up to date. We
keep getting into a situation where the demand dial interface keeps
connecting and getting disconnected every 53 seconds. It immediately
reconnects and does the same thing. Sometimes it is not able to reconect
for a few minutes. What could be causing this? The servers both also
connect to another site running 2k3 server with ISA server via L2TP. We
have 3 networks connected. We changed to L2TP because the 2k3 server did
not seem to liek having both connection at the same time with PPTP.

Any ideas as to what might be causing this? It's always about 53 seconds
(usually exactly 53) when we are having the problem.

Thanks,
jim

Have you figured anything out on this. I have the same problem but mine is 1 minute and 51 seconds. I've been struggling with this for three months now.

Did a coupe of things that, so far, we can live with.

1. We used to connect 3 networks via PPTP and RRAS and allow users to
connect remotely via PPTP. We changed the demand interfaces to connect via
L2TP.
2. We let the connections drop for a while. After an hour or so everything
seems to stablize and the connections stay up. This is after switching over
to L2TP for demand dial interfaces.

Good luck!

We had the same prblem. We have found a solution, it can working with PPTP
too: on the RRAS server must change the NICs binding order: 1. External NIC,
2. Internal NIC. Then all works fine. We has reported the problem and the
solution for Microsoft, but no answer.

The same here, this happens about every 2 min.
Changed the binding order but no change, I even got the patch fro
Microsoft and it didn't help.
I used the same .vpc file on a other machine and it worked just fine
