Hi I get a message everytime I open my pc it reads 16 bit
ms dos subsystem NTVDM recieves an illegal instruction.
what do I do?

Seems that your system is demaged by blaster worm. I
heard that most of computers demaged by blaster worm show
message related with "RPC Error". Update your computer
and patch your computer. And don't forget to setup
personal firewall.

From a post by Gary Thorn, MS-MVP that I saved:

This a virus called w32.Blaster.Worm

Patch from Microsoft:

More info from MS:

From Symantec Security Response for the virus

From Kelly - MVP:
Close Windows Explorer, End Process in the Task Manager
for msblast.exe, run
the edit on line 257 then run the patch listed below it:

Windows XP Security Patch: Buffer Overrun In RPC Interface
Could Allow Code
Execution: http://tinyurl.com/ir5h

-------------------------------

Install a firewall (software like or hardware like router)
to help prevent future similar issues.

Most users will be using the 32 bit edition of WinXP Home
and Pro.

Hope this helps!
