RPC unexpectedly terminated error when on internet

I have just reinstalled XP from a 2002 edition of the CD
and have installed a broadband connection. Now however
when I connect to the internet after a seemingly random
amount of time (sometimes 30 seconds, sometimes 10
minutes) I get an error message stating that Remote
Procedure Call unexpectedly terminated and the system is
being shut down and restarted. Can anyone please tell me
which patch/update or service pack will fix this problem?
