RPC service crash when share is accessed

Hi all,

whenever a computer with Windows XP SP2 or Windows Server 2003 connects
to one of the shares on my Windows Vista Ultimate computer, the RPC
service crashes on the Vista workstation and it reboots. It works
perfectly when I connect to my Shares from another Vista computer. I can
connect from my Vista computer to any other share without any problems,
its only incoming connections that causes my system to reboot.

The error is:

Try to clean boot on Vista and access it again. Do you have the same issue?
Please post back with the result.

Robert thank you for the reply.

I tried starting with a clean boot as per the 'netforum'. In 'safe mode'
sharing is disabled so you cannot connect from other anyway even
though the network is usable from vista.

I ran MSCONFIG and disabled all Non Microsoft services and all startup
programs. after a reboot I tried to connect from my windows 2003 server.
The result was the same as before with and RPC crash and a system reboot :-

Well I suppose its good to know nothing I've installed is breaking it.
In truth there isn't that much installed. Any other suggestions?

A complete re-install of Vista become the only way to fix this.

What was very disappointing, I found no help from any-where. I still
have absolutely no idea of what caused it in the first place.
