RPC Error when running dcpromo

Hi

I am running a Windows 2000 Advanced Server and am trying to demote it (as it is currently one of our domain controllers), however, when I run dcpromo I get the following error

*************************

The operation failed because

The Directory failed to replicate toff he changes made locally

"The RPC server is too busy to complete this operation.

*************************

Has anybody encountered this problem, is so, is there an easy fix for it

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Is your server on the network and communicating with the other DCs when
this happens? Sounds to me like your server is unable to contact the other
DCs when you are attempting to demote your DC.
