RPC disconnect - solution

Dear All,

I got this problem creeping up in my laptop suddenly from
today evening. I was struggling until now to identify the
reason, but with no luck. Later, I went and enabled
Internet connection firewall, on my connection with the
service provider and this issue seem to have stopped. My
laptop is stable now...

To enable internet connection firewall, do the following
Open Internet Explorer -->
Go to TOOLS Menu
Select CONNECTIONS tab
Select the Service provider, Click on the SETTINGS button
In the window that opens, click PROPERTIES button
Go to ADVANCED tab
Check the INTERNET CONNECTION FIREWALL checkbox
Click OK

This should solve the issue. This problem seems to have
cropped up suddenly. I hope microsoft releases a fix to
this soon or atleast explains why this happened.

Selevan,
Good thinking, thank you, but my situation is a little
more complicated.

What if I cannot keep my computer running long enough to
turn on my firewall, and when I unplug the cable (after
restarting) I do not have the problem, but I do not have
a network connection to set up a firewall for either?

unplug the ethernet cable to turn on ICF. then plug the cable back in
