It sounds like your internet connection firewall us on.
To see other computers you must turn it off.

To enable or disable Internet Connection Firewall

Open Network Connections
Click the Dial-up, LAN or High-Speed Internet connection
that you want to protect, and then, under Network Tasks,
click Change settings of this connection.
On the Advanced tab, under Internet Connection Firewall,
select one of the following:
To enable Internet Connection Firewall (ICF), select the
Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing
access to this computer from the Internet check box.
To disable Internet Connection Firewall, clear the
Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing
access to this computer from the Internet check box.

Thanks RB,
For a while I say the win xp computer, but now I cannot
see any computer under the workgroup in winxp. Should a
new workgroup from scratch how? Also, by removing the ICF
on win xp, will win2k and win xp be able to see each other
and share all resources.

Thanks

you should have no problem seeing and accessing each
computer as long as both computers are on the same
workgroup or at least have the same IP range. If you
have a software firewall like zonealarm you will need to
configure it to allow the local network to grant access.
Also, your guest account needs to be on on both
computers. Otherwise create the same user and password
on each machine that you use on the other one. It sounds
confusing even when I read that. Good luck
