Firewall Option in Network Connections

Hi:

There is an enable firewall option under XP, however my advanced tab gives a
message of "Windows cannot display the properties of this connection. The
Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) information might be corrupted. To
correct this, use System Restore to restore Windows to an eralier time
(called a restore point). System Restore is located in the System Tools
folder in Accessories".

I recently upgraded my operating system from XP HOME to XP Professional.
There is only 1 restore point in my calendar, and that doesn't correct the
error message. Does anyone have any clue on how to fix it?

Thanks!

1.. Open Network Connections
2.. Click the Dial-up, LAN or High-Speed Internet connection that you want
to protect, and then, under Network Tasks, click Change settings of this
connection.
3.. On the Advanced tab, under Internet Connection Firewall, select one of
the following:
a.. To enable Internet Connection Firewall (ICF), select the Protect my
computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from
the Internet check box.
b.. To disable Internet Connection Firewall, clear the Protect my
computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from
the Internet check box.

I have been looking for a fix for this WMI problem for weeks now. I have surfed the support site in total, with everyone spewing the same stuff. So in short if it is not affecting anything on your computer leave it alone. But do not shut this service down to many programs need it for something or another. Sorry I was no help but do not waste time triing to run down a simple answer
P.S. simple answer-bring it into the shop and have them figure it out or reload XP
