Roxio or Nero?

I can upgrade the Nero software that came bundled with my computer to Nero
Express OR install my wife's Roxio 5 Platinum software that she gave to me.
Which would be easiest for a neophyte to use and which is most compatible
with XP?

Go for Nero, leave Roxio well alone. I've had no problems with Nero in XP or previous versions of Windows. Others will disagree I expect.

I've had no probs at all with Roxio 5 Platinum as long as you apply the
patches. I think both are equally easy to use, but I prefer Roxio,
especially version 6 out now, it rocks.

I would say Nero as well, but having used both for some time would say they
are both equally good products, but prefer Nero. If your completely new to
CD Burning you would find it easier using Roxio 5.
Nero 6 is coming out soon, check there web site

And the latest Nero Updates haven't been all that hot. The OP should
look at the Roxio web site for cheaper upgrade pricing on Roxio 6.

Roxio has really cleaned up their act since the debacle after XP was
initially released.

Why use some huge bulky software when a 13 MB odd software will do the same
for you, probably in a better way. No one has ever disputed the fact that
Nero works well. And what's so "Easy" about Easy cd creator anyway -Nero
has Nero Express too and I don't think it can be much simpler. With an
update every month you can get all the latest fixes too. Nero 6 makes the
choice even more compelling esp. since you're upgrading now. I just created
a boot xp unattended setup CD today on a CD-RW without even finalizing
today, and it works perfectly. I say Nero, and I always have so far (even
with my earlier 4x burner Nero was great).

Here's my two cents...Roxio on my laptop and Nero at home. And the winner
is....Nero!
Nero gives me more latitude on cd copying, Roxio gives me nothing but grief!
Both are easy to use, but Nero has a slight advantage with the 'express'
version.

I have both installed (bought Roxio 5 Platinum and got Nero with a new CD-RW
drive) and definitely prefer Roxio. It's more versatile than Nero. I've never
had problems with 5 Platinum, probably because it's always kept current with new
updates.
